1. Overview
Quick Meal Check helps users estimate calories and macronutrients from meal photos or text descriptions. To provide that service, the app uses account sign-in, cloud functions, subscription verification, and third-party AI processing. We try to limit data collection to what is needed to run the app, support subscriptions, and improve reliability.
2. Information We Collect
Account information
When you create an account or sign in, we collect your email address and an internal user identifier generated by our authentication provider.
Meal submissions
When you analyze a meal, we collect the content you choose to submit, which may include:
- Meal photos you capture or select from your photo library
- Meal descriptions entered manually
- Optional notes such as ingredients, serving size, or corrections to the meal contents
Analysis output and local meal history
The app can save nutrition estimates, timestamps, descriptions, and small preview or thumbnail images locally on your device so recent entries remain available in the meal journal.
Body metrics and goals
If you use the body metrics tools, the app stores information such as weight, height, age, sex, activity level, and calorie-goal preferences locally on your device.
Subscription and service usage data
To unlock paid features and enforce service limits, we process subscription and account-service data such as product identifier, original transaction identifier, subscription expiration date, and daily analysis usage counts.
Permissions
The app requests access to the camera and photo library only when you choose features that need them.
3. How We Use Information
- Authenticate users and keep them signed in
- Submit meal photos and text for nutrition analysis
- Return calorie and macro estimates in the app
- Save recent meal history and local settings on-device
- Verify subscription status and unlock paid features
- Enforce reasonable usage limits and protect the service from abuse
- Respond to support requests, security issues, and legal obligations
4. How Information Is Shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share data only as needed to run the service.
Firebase and Google Cloud
We use Firebase and related Google Cloud services for authentication, callable backend functions, subscription-state storage, and usage records.
OpenAI
Meal photos, meal descriptions, and notes submitted for analysis are sent through our backend to OpenAI so nutrition estimates can be generated. If you include personal details in a meal note or description, those details may also be transmitted as part of the analysis request.
Apple
Subscription purchases are processed by Apple. We receive limited subscription-related data needed to determine whether paid features should be available in the app.
5. Data Retention
- Recent meal history saved by the app is stored locally on your device and is currently limited to roughly 30 days unless you delete entries sooner.
- Body-metrics preferences and calorie-goal settings remain on your device until you change them, clear the app, or remove the app.
- Subscription status and service-usage records may be retained on our backend for operational, accounting, fraud-prevention, and support purposes.
- In the current app implementation reviewed for this policy, submitted meal photos are transmitted for processing but are not intentionally saved by us as a long-term user photo archive. Service providers may keep transient logs or retain data under their own policies.
6. Your Choices
- You can choose not to grant camera or photo-library access, although some features will not work without those permissions.
- You can delete saved meal entries from the meal journal inside the app.
- You can cancel subscriptions through your Apple account settings.
- You can request account or backend-data deletion through the in-app account-deletion flow when available, or by contacting us at replace-this-email@example.com.
7. Tracking, Advertising, and Sensitive Use
Quick Meal Check is not built around advertising or cross-app tracking. We do not use the app to track you across other companies' apps or websites for targeted advertising.
Nutrition estimates can relate to health or wellness behavior, but Quick Meal Check is not a medical device and does not provide medical diagnosis, treatment, or emergency guidance.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures intended to protect the information we process. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Children
Quick Meal Check is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. International Processing
Depending on where you use the app, your information may be processed in countries other than your own, including countries where our service providers operate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will update the date at the top of this page and may provide additional notice where appropriate.
